Great communities produce great outcomes.  In order for communities to exist, let alone thrive, there is a need for focal points and opportunities to interact.  If you are interested in cleanweb and want to be a part of the growth of the cleanweb community in Colorado as well as the Global Cleanweb Ecosystem, check out the Colorado Cleanweb Meetup.  This is an initiative that is launching to help provide opportunities for individuals interested in the potential of cleanweb opportunities to meet others and find opportunities to get involved with great new initiatives, projects and businesses.

Our effort is a regional one that is linked with an international community of meetups and hackathons driven by the efforts of many great people like Blake Burris and Sunil Paul. My co-founder of the CO Cleanweb Meetup, Alec Brewster, is going to be meeting with the organizers for a cleanweb meetup in London this week while he is there watching the Olympics…  Not a shabby trip planned.

The goal of the CO Cleanweb Meetup is to provide a platform for individuals to build the community for cleanweb in Colorado.  We hope to create a very action oriented community.  Our goal is to get the ball rolling and empower community members to take an active role in planning new events, creating and supporting new startups, as well as accelerating the regional and global cleanweb ecosystem.

We hope to draw individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds.  Related to my last post, “Cleanweb – at the Intersection of Three Communities” - we see cleanweb as being at the intersection of IT/webtech, green products and services, and Cleantech.  Few communities can claim to be a hub for startups in any one of these categories.  Boulder, Colorado is a hub for all three.  We believe that a cleanweb community that pulls together people from a diverse set of backgrounds, with unique perspectives, skill-sets and experience, all interested in solving similar issues, will lead to very innovative ideas and breakthrough solutions to complex problems.

Our first meeting is next Monday, August 13th, at 6pm.  Simple Energy has been kind enough to let us use their space to meet.   We will be talking about GreenLite Labs, hearing from Simple Energy about what they have going on, as well as the folks from NREL about OpenEI.

So, if you are interested in IT, web, mobile or software technologies and how it can environmental sustainability, come check out the Colorado Cleanweb Meetup.  You can register and RSPV for Monday’s event at http://www.meetup.com/CO-Cleanweb-Meetup/

See you at the CO Cleanweb Meetup!
